Fire seals are critical for building safety because they prevent fire from spreading between rooms and floors of the building and maintain the integrity of fire doors. Fire seals help contain fire, reduces fire damage and allows more time for safe evacuation.
Fire seals are used on and around fire doors, cable openings, pipe openings, expansion joints to provide passive fire protection.
Intumescent strips are fire resistant passive protection products. When exposed to extreme heat they are activated and expand to control & prevent the spread of fire. Intumescent strips provide passive protection through gaps around doors, fire doors, windows and cable/pipe access.
Intumescent strips expand 5-10 times their original thickness, and some can expand up to 20 times their original size to provide passive protection.
Intumescent strips have a lifespan of 10-15 years when properly maintained and without heavy use of preventing fire from spreading.
Intumescent strips are available in various fire ratings, typically ranging from 30 to 120 minutes depending on the intumescent strip product.
