Threshold plates are metal composite strips installed at doorways to create a smooth transition between different flooring materials or levels. They cover the gap between floors, provide weather sealing, and create an attractive finished appearance. They also offer significant acoustic benefits by reducing sound transmission between rooms.
Threshold plates reduce sound transmission and improve the overall noise reduction of rooms by sealing gaps under the doors where sound travels through freely between rooms. An acoustic barrier is formed by the threshold plates which absorbs soundwaves.
Threshold plates are most effective when installed below solid core doors and acoustic rated doors. These type of doors and threshold plates work trogether to create acoustic sound barriers and complete the noise reduction features on the door.
