Lorient FF1 Flexible Figure 1 – No Top Hat

The Lorient FF1 Flexible Figure 1 is a flexible intumescent glazing system designed for use around glazed apertures in 30-minute fire-resistant timber doors.

This No Top Hat version is manufactured without the 7.5mm decorative top cap, providing a discreet finish when installed to the glazing bead. Lorient confirms that the FF1 system can be manufactured with or without the decorative top cap.

The flexible gasket is applied directly to the glazing bead using its self-adhesive backing. The glass is then located between opposing beads and seal faces to form the complete glazing arrangement.

The FF1 seal is applied to the glazing edge of the bead. For the No Top Hat version, Lorient instructs that the top of the seal should line up with the top glazing edge of the bead.

The exact glazing bead dimensions, glass type, aperture construction and fixing arrangement must correspond with the relevant test evidence. Lorient’s current certification permits specified hardwood or softwood beads and particular MDF bead applications, subject to the certified configuration.

Important: FF1 should be treated as a component of the complete certified glazing system. The appropriate glass, beads, fixings, door construction and installation details must correspond with the relevant fire-test evidence and CF327 certification.

Glazing gaskets are sealing components used to secure glass panels in fire-rated doors, windows, and partition assemblies. They provide both structural support to hold the glass in place and passive fire protection by preventing flame and smoke penetration around the glazing edges during fire conditions.

Fire-rated glazing gaskets contain intumescent materials that expand when exposed to fire temperatures, creating a solid seal that prevents fire and smoke from passing around the glass edges.

Fire rated Glazing Gaskets typically last 10-15 years under normal conditions but this can vary based on environmental factors and if they are damaged.

Glazing gaskets are available with fire ratings of up to 60, 90, and 120 minutes, providing reliable passive protection.
