Pyroplex® Limited offers a comprehensive range of Fire Rated Air Transfer Grille Systems that are suitable for use in fire resisting doorsets and compartment walls for up to 60 minutes fire resistance.

In normal use, the Pyroplex® system allows air to be circulated and moved throughout the building. During a fire the system is designed to close and provide a fire barrier to restrict the passage of hot gases.

Pyroplex® Fire Rated Air Transfer Grille Systems are independently tested by Warringtonfire for 30 and 60 minutes fire resistance. The system has been tested for positive and negative pressure planes, satisfying integrity performance for 30 and 60 minutes. Test Report No.146520/146521 and 148053 apply – combined within Assessment Report No.149511. IFCC1001 accreditation applies.

  • 300mm x 150mm x 40mm = 307cmsq free air flow
  • 300mm x 300mm x 40mm = 614cmsq free air flow
  • 225mm x 112mm x 40mm = 161cmsq free air flow
  • 225mm x 225mm x 40mm = 323cmsq free air flow

Fire rated air transfer grilles are designed to allow air movement between spaces while maintaining fire resistance ratings. These air transfer grilles contain fire dampers and intumescent materials that automatically close and seal when exposed to high temperatures, preventing fire and smoke from passing through.

Fire rated air transfer grilles use one of two mechanisms. One of the mechanisms is fire dampers that close when exposed to extreme temperatures from a fire. The 2nd mechanism is intumescent materials that expand when heated to seal the opening. Some fire rated air transfer grilles combine both mechanisms for enhanced protection.

The fire damper mechanisms and fire-resistant intumescent materials can impact airflow compared to standard grilles. However the fire rated air transfer grilles have minimal impact on airflow while providing fire resistance at the same time.
