Fire rated pipe collars contain intumescent material which activates when exposed to temperatures around 200°C. When activated the intumescent material expands to fill the void, creating an effective fire barrier that maintains the wall or floor’s fire rating.

Yes, pipe collars should have annual inspections and maintenance to ensure they provide optimal performance of fire resistance and passive protection.

Fire collars must be installed wherever combustible pipes pass through walls, floors or ceiling a. this includes penetrations through compartment walls, escape route enclosures, and any barrier designed to contain fire for a specific time period.
