Fire seals are designed to provide passive fire protection by controlling & slowing down the spread of fire within commercial, industrial, public and residential buildings. This allows enough time for evacuation and emergency services to attend.

Most fire seals are designed to last 10-20 years under normal conditions, however if they are damaged then they should replaced straight away. We recommend regular inspection of fire seals.

Fire seals are passive protection which work automatically without any power unlike sprinkler systems or alarms and enhances other fire systems more effectively.

Damaged fire seals compromise the passive protection against fire and increases the risk of fire spreading throughout the building.

Yes, fire seals require regular inspection and maintenance. Make sure to look for cracks, gaps, missing material or deterioration. Visual inspections should be conducted annually. We also recommend that visual inspections should be conducted annually.

Fire seals should be inspected regularly and we recommend every six months and when there has been damage to the fire seals replace them immediately.

When exposed to fire the intumescent material in the strips activate that causes them to expand to 10 times their original thickness. This expansion fills gaps, cracks and prevents flames and hot gases from passing through and spreading.

Intumescent strips are fire resistant passive protection products. When exposed to extreme heat they are activated and expand to control & prevent the spread of fire. Intumescent strips provide passive protection through gaps around doors, fire doors, windows and cable/pipe access.

Intumescent strips are available in various fire ratings, typically ranging from 30 to 120 minutes depending on the intumescent strip product.

Intumescent strips expand 5-10 times their original thickness, and some can expand up to 20 times their original size to provide passive protection.
